2024 ford f-150

The new Ford F-150 pickup packs a lot of towing power across its various trim levels, powertrain, drive system, and cab style and size configurations. But, if you want the best possible towing capacity, consider the 2024 F-150 with a SuperCrew 6.5-foot Box and 4x4 drive system equipped with the 3.5-liter V-6 engine. In addition to the Tow/Haul Package, this F-150 combination helps the truck deliver a class-leading available tow rating of up to 13,500 pounds. Plus, you'll get a max payload of up to 2,4445 pounds, the perfect amount of power for hauling tools and equipment to the worksite or a travel trailer for your next adventure.

What's the Tow/Haul Package?

Each 2024 Ford F-150 trim comes standard with a Class IV Trailer Hitch and a 2-inch hitch receiver rated at 11,600 pounds. If you need a higher tow rating, the Tow/Haul Package (53T) is the perfect addition for your new pickup. This upgrade package includes a 2-inch reinforced receiver rated at 14,000 pounds. The Tow/Haul Package (53T) is standard on the new F-150's Platinum and King Ranch trims and optional on all other trim levels.

F-150 Trims Levels and Their Towing Capacity Basics

Customize your 2024 F-150 pickup truck to match your style and needs by choosing from eight available trim levels: the XL, the STX, the XLT, the TREMOR, the LARIAT, the King Ranch, the Platinum, and the Raptor. Take your truck customization a step further with three cab styles in different sizes: the Regular Cab, the SuperCab, and the SuperCrew, available in 5.5-, 6.5-, or 8.0-foot size options. All 2024 F-150 trims feature the same powertrains paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission with optimized gear spacing, including three overdrive gears to maximize the Ford truck's power, low-rpm torque, and fuel efficiency. Despite the different configurations, the 2024 Ford F-150 towing capacity ultimately depends on the engine type, as each has different horsepower and torque outputs. Here are the six F-150 engine options and their related towing and payload capacities:

  • 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6: Delivers 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque for a 8,400-pound towing capacity and 1,775-pound payload.
  • 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6: Produces 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque for a 2,445-pound payload. This engine option with the Tow/Haul Package helps the truck reach a maximum 13,500-pound towing capacity.
  • 3.5-liter PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6: This hybrid engine generates 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque for an 11,200-pound towing capacity and 1,755-pound payload.
  • 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8: Delivers 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. With the Tow/Haul Package, this F-150 can tow up to 12,900 pounds. Choose the SuperCrew cab and the 4x2 drive system with this engine option for a max payload of 2,230 pounds.
  • 3.5-liter EcoBoost H.O. V6: This engine option is only available on the Raptor trim and produces 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, the F-150 Raptor can tow up to 8,200 pounds. Select the 37-inch tire option for an enhanced payload of 1,405 pounds.
  • 5.2-liter Supercharged V8: This engine option is only available on the Raptor R trim, generating a whopping 720 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque. The maximum towing capacity with this engine option is 8,700 pounds, and the max payload is 1,410 pounds.
Note: Horsepower, torque, payload, and towing are independent attributes and may not be achieved simultaneously.

Noteworthy Towing Features on the 2024 Ford F-150

The 2024 F-150's towing excellence goes beyond its capacities. Ford outfits its pickup truck with innovative technologies and systems that help you easily tow the heaviest loads. Consider adding the following features to enhance your towing experience:

  • Pro Trailer Backup Assist: After the initial set-up, using this available feature to back up a trailer is as easy as turning a knob. Rotate your wheels in the direction you want your trailer to go, select Backup Assist, and the system will move your truck into position.
  • Onboard Scales: Use this available feature to estimate the approximate payload weight for a better-balanced ride without exceeding the weight the F-150 can handle. The system lets you view the active Onboard Scales and payload status through the SYNC 4 Screen or an LED visual display in the taillamps.
  • Smart Hitch: The available Smart Hitch works in tandem with the Onboard Scales to measure the tongue as the trailer lowers into place.
  • Smart Trailer Tow Connector: This available feature notifies you if there's an issue with your trailer, such as battery problems, or if your turn or brake lights are out. This system alerts you with the tow activity screen on your instrument cluster.
  • Dynamic Hitch Assist: Use this available feature for extra guidance as you put your truck in reverse to hitch the trailer. This assist system will help you align your hitch with the trailer by using lines via an on-screen guide.
  • Pro Trailer Hitch Assist: Instead of stressing over reversing, steering, braking, and accelerating, let this available assist feature do the work for you. Activate the system by pressing and holding the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist button. It will automatically take over and guide your truck into place for easy hitching to your trailer.
